Let It Go!

authentically you hope Jan 06, 2017

Hi there!  And Happy New Year to you!  I wish you less static in 2017!

I am looking forward with great optimism to the year ahead – 2016 seemed like a year of ups and downs for me, so overall, I’m hoping that 2017 is a little more even keeled, a bit quiet and even dull (at times) would be welcome :)

And I confess, I am one of those people who LOVE to make lists of things I aim to do over the course of the year.  Especially because my birthday is this month, so the New Year seems to double down for me on both reflection and looking ahead.

However, this year I’ve noticed a distinct difference in my body, mind and soul.  This year, it feels more appropriate to focus in on a few goals and see them all the way through.  And more than a few of my goals are simple and quiet ones, such as ‘read all the unread books on my bookshelf’ – I’ve got two shelves full of books I’ve yet to read (I find it hard to resist buying a good book when I come across it)!

I do still have loftier goals but instead of a long list, I am choosing to focus on a few of my favourites :)

The overarching theme appears to be to let go of the static in my life.  All the unimportant things that end up taking more importance in my mind than they deserve.

To stop over committing myself.  To stay closer to home.  To live a quieter life, and to just slow down overall.

To exercise more and eat healthier.  To sleep more.  To let go.  To relax into myself and get really comfortable with who I am.  I hope this will prove to be a more satisfying life trend, which in the end – for me – just means more self-care and connecting more deeply with family and friends.

Then let the static go, even just a bit.  And see how the slight shift affects my life.

The world probably won’t end if I don’t work as much overtime at work.

My life will likely change for the better if I laugh more and get more sleep.

And just imagine how the world would change for the better if everyone laughed more and got more sleep!  It could be the start of something truly amazing.

So I encourage you all to keep it simple this year, and keep it real.  And perhaps instead of making lists of things to see and do and add to your life.  Include a few things that you want to stop doing this year - a type of pruning - for those gardeners out there! :)

Whatever you hope for in 2017, I wish you all the best and good luck in all your adventures,

Much love, Lisa
