Whole Woman: Your Journey through the 7 Divine Feminine Archetypes

The Maiden: 

Also known as: Greek Goddess Persephone, Snow White, Sleeping Beauty 

Symbols: pomegranate, flowers 

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction, Phoebe in Friends

Moon Cycle: Waxing Crescent - after new moon, before full moon - an initiating energy

Menstrual Cycle: Follicular Phase (time after menstruation but before ovulation - about a week) - new beginnings, planning, brainstorming, it’s an outward phase where you’re out in the world, action packed

Season: Spring 

Chakra: Solar Plexus - 3rd chakra (your sense of self among the world)

Brief Description: 

  • Eternally youthful, lives in the present 
  • Passive 
  • ‘Eternal adolescent’, indecisive, non-committal 
  • Bends to conform to circumstances ‘willowy’
  • Gets caught up in the fantasy and dreams - especially in a romantic relationship
  • The sparkle in your eye when you’re 90 :) - the part of yourself that doesn’t become fundamentally changed by life’s journey - that recovers and remains pure, to the good possibilities of life
  • Empathetic because they are so receptive to others  

The Mother

Goddess of the Grain, Earth Mother

Also known as: Greek Goddess Demeter, Pachamama, Ceres, Mother Bear Energy 

Symbols: dressed in blue, golden hair, grain

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Mother Teresa, Harriet Tubman, Melinda Gates, Wilma Mankiller - a cherokee Nation leader who prioritized healthcare and education for all, Princess Diana, Candy Lightner - founder of MADD (literally mothered humanity in some way)

Moon Cycle: Full Moon - maximum attention, connecting, and collaborating energy

Menstrual Cycle: Ovulation - literally when you can become a mother, also your most receptive and nurturing phase

Season: Summer 

Chakra: Root Chakra (1st) - sense of belonging, safety, cared for

Brief Description: 

  • She is the giver of life and the place to which we will all ultimately return, our first and last relationship 
  • She provides her bounty in abundance, as earth mother, pachamama, madre tierra, She is our physical foundation, stability and security.  
  • Many of us who seek healing, return to the earth to do so - we give ourselves back to the Earth Mother, for her quiet and powerful wisdom to soothe ourselves.
  • Maternal nature, provider of food & spiritual sustenance
  • Generous and giving, caretakers & providers  

 

 

The Lover

 Goddess of Love & Beauty & creativity

Also known as: Greek Goddess Aphrodite, Venus, 

Symbols: doves, ‘golden’, swans, roses, apples, pomegranates

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Marilyn Monroe, Elizabeth Taylor, Kim Katrall on Sex in the City 

Moon Cycle: Full Moon - communicating, being out there

Menstrual Cycle: Ovulation (about 5  days) - attracting, collaborating, peak receptivity

Season: Summer

Chakra:  2nd chakra - sex organs

Brief Description: 

  • Motivates women to seek intensity in relationships rather than permanence
  • This archetype rules what it means to be free, to be open, to be sexual, to be fully engaged in life 
  • To value the creative process and to be open to change, this energy is a powerful force for change 
  • Lover of laughter, filled with irresistible charm 
  • Flowing, sensual and playful energy 
  • Radiates abundance and fully alive, connecting for the shear pleasure of it.  Not because there is something to gain.
  • Deeply connected to the wisdom of our bodies and therefore there’s a deep trust in listening to your body And this is where the patriarchal societal system has gotten us way off track here - we are told through all different ways, every day of our life that our bodies aren’t to be trusted, that they could be managed better with government intervention - with Men making decisions for us instead of allowing us our Divine Right for body autonomy 

The Huntress

Goddess of the hunt, the moon, competition and sisterhood 

Also known as: Greek Goddess Artemis, Romans called her Diana the Huntress

Symbols: wild horses, doe, lioness, bear, wild boar

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Gloria Steinem, Serena Williams, Simone Biles, - so many Olympians :) Amelia Earhart, 

Moon Cycle: Waning Moon - More Internal energy, a completing energy

Menstrual Cycle: Luteal Phase - focus, details, finishing projects, putting in the work 

Season: Fall 

Chakra: Throat Chakra - Solar plexus for taking action in this world and throat chakra for your confidence and ability to speak your True in the world

Brief Description: 

  • Independent feminine spirit, always up for a new adventure, loves travel
  • High achiever, tapped into their divine masculine energies as they are warriors; independent and determined to accomplish their goals
  • Competitive 
  • Personal intimacy is a growth edge :) 
  • Answering the call - a vision or calling spurs her into action and keeps her determined
  • Following passion & purpose 
  • Assertiveness, determination, strength
  • Carving out a path that is yours and yours alone 

 

The Queen 

Goddess of Heaven

Also known as: Greek Goddess Hera, Juno, Great Lady, wife, Commitment Maker

Symbols: the cow, milky way, the lily, peacocks tail feather ‘eyes’ 

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Beyonce, Michelle Obama, Oprah

Moon Cycle: Waning Crescent - internal energy, completing energy

Menstrual Cycle: Luteal Phase - focus, details, putting in the work, committed

Season: Fall  

Chakra:  Four lower chakras - once these are activated then we begin to embody our Queen energy 

Brief Description: 

  • Intensely powerful force for joy in a woman’s life
  • Whole woman - sovereign being, a leader, role model - standing shoulder to shoulder, not fighting for the top
  • Loyal, faithful, committed, regal 
  • Sacred unions through which GRACE can be channeled - meaningful alliances
  • Worldly authority and our sacred power, we don’t play small - we step into the wholeness of who we are, and bring it into everything we put our attention on - committed to her Divine Work
  • With power, comes great responsibility - she inspires others (like the Marianne Williamson saying - that when you live in your Truth and Light you inspire others to do the same) 

 

The Wild Woman (Priestess)

Goddess of the Hearth, the spiritual heart

Also known as: Greek Goddess Hestia, Roman Goddess Vesta, Priestess, the living flame at the center of a home

Symbols:  a circle, fire, she is symbolized through rituals

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Witch, Shaman (this is an energy that is feared by the patriarchal societal structure in general - it’s been persecuted, and ladies it’s because the men know how powerful we’d be if we really let our fires rise...now is the time, we need to harness our own power, I want to see each of you shine as whole women in your lives)

Moon Cycle: New Moon - inward, slower paced, reflective

Menstrual Cycle: Menstruating or just before - instinctual, hearts desires are louder, you hear your Divine Self/Inner Wisdom clearer and louder

Season: Winter

Chakra: 6th Chakra (brow chakra)

She wants you to shine in this world; to let your True Self engage with this world - free yourself.

Let your Divine Light shine - you are meant to share your gifts with the world. Listen to your Inner Wisdom over anything society tells you.

 Brief Description: 

  • She is introverted and instinctual
  • Loves meditation :)
  • Spiritual center of a woman’s personality 
  • Fire at the center of the hearth (including inner hearth)
  • Source of sacred routines and rituals 
  • Looks inward and intuitively sees what’s going on
  • Channel for the Divine - highly creative as she is open to whatever comes through - enjoys creating for the pleasure of creating, without fear of judgement 

 

The Wise Woman

Goddess of of Wisdom and Crafts, The Crone, The Sage

Also known as: Indigenous women, frontier women, Medicine Woman, Babushka's (grandmothers)

Symbols: Intertwined snakes, owl

Examples of women who embody this archetype strongly: Dolly Parton, Maya Angelou, Oprah

Moon Cycle: Waning Moon - Inward Energy, completing energy

Menstrual Cycle: Menstruating - slow, inward

Season: Winter

Chakra:  6th chakra - brow

Brief Description: 

  • Deep, inherent knowing and knowledge
  • Drunk deeply from the cup of life or an old soul 
  • Women's pursuit of worldly knowledge, practical solutions, strategist as well as having a deep understanding of our part in the bigger picture, in the wheel of life
  • Made things that were both useful and esthetically pleasing
  • she holds all of us, as well as our ancestral wisdom, stories, songs, recipes, traumas, joys, all the ups and downs of life
  • She has Grace, Beauty, Dignity and Wisdom
